Club Description

This free club meets after school on Fridays in Janet's room during the school year. All students are welcome to drop in, but must register parent contact info and stay in the classroom. The organizers establish a theme for each month, starting with classic games (checkers, chess, backgammon, etc.) and expanding to board games (e.g. Monopoly, Life, Parcheesi), word games (Scrabble, Pictionary, etc.) tabletop (Settlers of Cataan, Ticket to Ride), and more! Students are encouraged to create and play their own games based on their experiences.

Please email us and include your:

Parents' names, email addresses, emergency contact phone number
Student name and (optional) email address
Grade
Some of your favorite board / card games

We'll include you in a mailing list for announcements, cancellations, etc.

Ground Rules

Plan on staying in the classroom for the duration of the event.
No gambling (perhaps we'll cover some of the statistics behind poker, craps, and blackjack, using leftover Halloween candy)
No video games (unless we program them ourselves, later in the year we'd like to introduce some basic programming languages and apply them)

Volunteering

This club is organized and supported by parents. Loans/donations of your favorite games are needed, experienced chess coaches would be welcomed, and if you have a passion for a particular game, please contact the coordinators to come in and help teach/coach the students!
